The Engineering Geology Section of the WSDOT Geotechnical Office in Olympia, WA. provides statewide engineering geology/geological engineering design, rock engineering, landslide characterization/mitigation, unstable slopes management for 7,000 miles of highways, subsurface exploration services, construction support, and maintenance and emergency response support services for the Department through a diverse group of 22 engineering geologists, GIS analysts, field exploration specialists and technicians. The Chief Engineering Geologist acts as an assistant to the State Geotechnical Engineer and manages the Engineering Geology Section.
