May 5, 2016 @ 8:00 am - 5:30 pm

FLYER

In collaboration with the ASCE Portland Geotechnical Group, the OSU School of Civil and Construction Engineering presents an OSU Geo‐Institute Graduate Student Organization fundraiser, Recent Advances in Soil Stabilization for Slopes and Embankments, sponsored in part by GeoStabilization International.

Recent Advances in Soil Stabilization for Slopes and Embankments

  • May 5, 2016, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • ODOT, 123 NW Flanders, Portland, OR 97209
  • $200 per person
  • All proceeds fund the OSU Graduate Geotechnical Student Group

This seminar will provide a broad overview of recent geotechnical advances in stabilization of soils for slope and embankment construction. Topics will range from the critical role of geomorphology in site assessments to mitigation of slope and embankment instabilities resulting from static and seismic loading. Landslide and related geohazard mitigation will be included. Stabilization techniques to be discussed include soil nailing variants, geosynthetic reinforced soil for slopes and walls and footing surcharges, reticulated micropiles, facing design for erosion control, and use of displacement piles for liquefaction mitigation. It is anticipated that seven (7) Professional Development Hours (PDHs) will be issued for full-day participants.
